Helpful, but could be faster

I used Elicit for a literature review and the AI Literature Review feature was pretty helpful. It pulled out key findings well. The sign-up was easy. My only small gripe is that some of the PDF analyses took a little longer than I expected, maybe my files were large. Overall, a good tool for the price, especially compared to doing it all manually.

Consistent performance for academic work

I've been using Elicit for a while now, mainly for its Research Assistant and Citation Analysis. This last time, I renewed my Pro subscription. It's just as reliable as my previous experiences. The academic search engine consistently finds relevant papers. No surprises, which is what I want.

Good value with annual plan

I was looking for an AI research tool and Elicit's annual subscription for the Plus plan seemed like the best deal. It saved me a good chunk compared to paying monthly. The Paper Summarization feature is really useful and made my work faster. Felt like a solid purchase.

Streamlined my research process

I signed up for Elicit Pro to manage a large systematic review project. The initial setup was straightforward; I just created an account and paid for the annual plan. The Team Workspace feature was essential for collaborating with my colleagues. We uploaded around 500 papers, and the Automated Screening tool processed them efficiently, flagging relevant studies based on our criteria. I contacted support once about an issue with table extraction on a particularly complex PDF, and they responded within a day with a solution. The data extraction worked well for most papers, though a few required manual checks. It really cut down on the time we'd normally spend. Delivery was instant since it's a software service, which is always nice. Definitely helped streamline things.

Does Elicit do those systematic review things, like screening papers and stuff, or is it more for just general searching?

L Lisa W. 2 months ago
They do have features for that, it's not just a fancy search engine. You can automate parts of the screening process, which is pretty cool for getting through a lot of abstracts.

I think they say it's accurate for systematic reviews, at least that's what their site implies. Haven't tried it for a full-blown one myself though, usually just use it for initial evidence synthesis.

Is the free version of Elicit actually useful for anything serious, or is it just a teaser?

D Dan 2 months ago
It's decent for basic stuff, like just trying it out. You can do some searches and get summaries, but if you're really digging deep, you'll hit limits pretty quick.

Yeah, I used the free one for a bit to get a feel for it. It gives you a good idea of what it does, but for actual literature reviews, you'll need a paid plan. The number of papers you can process is super limited.
